At Portland’s Japanese Garden
The lantern pictured above, called The Bridge, has one foot planted firmly on the earth and the other in the water. It’s a reminder that both elements, plus the air that surrounds it, are necessary to a peaceful equilibrium.
Finding that quality during this time of dramatic change and frequent upset is hard. When my stress levels rise I remind myself that life itself goes on. The birds nest, breed, and raise their young, the bees buzz around the lavender, flowers bloom, and the planet continues to rotate daily around the sun.
For me, nature has always been the best antidote for stress, or any negative emotion, so I welcome these warm summer months which make the outdoors so accessible.
Wishing you a happy summer!
I’m excited to report that My new book, Life In Transition: Essays and Transitions, will be available august 1. More details soon!
