A win!

We watched the DADT vote yesterday and it felt good to see the country move in the direction of equality for all. We've a way to go, of course, but I'll happily applaud every step, and I'm proud of the entire Oregon delegation who, with one exception—Representative Greg Walden—supported and voted for the bill. The Defense of Marriage Act now awaits, but there's not much hope for it in the new Congress. Still, this was a big win, and I'm happy for my gay friends and for all those who can openly join, or return to service in the military. Now if we can just do something about the endless wars they're called upon to fight, I'll be very, very happy.

And, oh yeah, there's still that Equal Rights Amendment for Women?
